ENGAGE ANNOUNCES THE ADDITION OF NAT/PAT
APTOS, Calif., June 1, 1999 - Engage adds Network Address Translation
(NAT) to the ExpressRouterXL and the IPExpressXL lines of WAN and
Internet Access Routers. The NAT function performs IP Port Translation
(PAT) on a single Global IP Address. The NAT also provides a type
of firewall by only allowing communication to those connections
that are established from the internal side of the network.
Engage's NAT enables companies to setup networks with large blocks
of internal addresses without being restricted to a very limited
supply of global addresses. NAT simplifies network administration
by supporting less-stringent requirements on internal addressing
schemes.
"The addition of NAT/PAT to our routers enables us to deliver
internet access solutions that are more secure and easier to setup"
said Mark Doyle, Engage's president. "Primarily it was our
ISP customers that requested that we integrate NAT/PAT into the
IPExpressXL-T1, our internet access router with an integral T1 DSU/CSU."
